Big Plans for Canada Day Weekend

Chapel Arm Hosts Confederation 75 Concert, Canada Day Family Fest, and More

The Town of Chapel Arm and Chapel Arm Sports and Recreation Committee are pleased to announce multiple events taking place Canada Day weekend.

Sunday, June 30th will see festivities kick off at Chapel Arm ball field with a Confederation 75 19+ Concert. The concert will feature entertainment by Calvin Murphy from 1-3 PM, and Second Wind from 3-6 PM. A $10 cover charge and ID will be required at the gate, and a beer tent will be available onsite. A cornhole tournament will take place starting at 2 PM on the concert grounds, with the winners taking home a cash prize. Teams are required to pay a $20 entry fee and are encouraged to register early for the event by contacting sportsandrec@chapelarm.ca.

Also on June 30th, the community will be hosting a free all ages pig roast and barbecue. The event will begin at 1 PM at the basketball court behind Holy Family Elementary, adjacent to the Confederation 75 concert. This event will be first come, first served, while supplies last.

On July 1st, events will take place throughout the day, starting in the afternoon. From 1-3 PM, the Canada Day Family Fest will take place at Chapel Arm Community Centre (formerly St. John the Baptist Hall). There will be games, face painting, a youth cornhole tournament (ages 12-17), prizes, and more. A canteen will be available onsite.

A Bobber Race will take place at 3 PM on July 1st with bobbers being released from Hot Rock. Bobbers will be available for purchase until 2 PM on July 1st from Chapel Arm Town Office, the North Atlantic Gas Bar, I.J. Smith Home Hardware, Temple's, and at the Confederation 75 Concert and Canada Day Family Fest.

The annual Canada Day Wiener Roast will run from 8-9 PM July 1st on Western Cove Beach. All ages are encouraged to attend, and free hot dogs and marshmallows will be available on a first come, first served basis.

At roughly 9:45, residents can prepare for fireworks to be set off from Southern Cove Beach. The fireworks will be set off just after dark.

These events have been made possible through generous funding from Chapel Arm Sports and Recreation Committee, The Town of Chapel Arm, Canadian Heritage, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation.
